Bible in a Year: Genesis 7–9 Matthew 3
All His saints are in Your hand. —
Deuteronomy 33:3
Today’s Scripture:
Deuteronomy 33:1-3,26-29
On his deathbed, British preacher Charles Simeon smiled brightly and asked the people gathered in his room, “What do you think especially gives me comfort at this time?”
When they all remained silent, he exclaimed, “The creation! I ask myself, ‘Did Jehovah create the world or did I?’ He did! Now if He made the world and all the glory of the universe, He certainly can take care of me. Into 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄’s (God’s) hands I can safely commit my spirit!”
Hudson Taylor, founder of China Inland Mission, in the closing months of his life said to a friend, “I am so weak. I can’t read my Bible. I can’t even pray. I can only lie still in 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄’s (God’s) arms like a little child and trust.”
Both Simeon and Taylor knew that the almighty 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (God) who created the universe was holding them in His hands. Moses had the same assurance when he blessed the children of Israel before he died (Deut. 33). They could face the future with confidence because the Elohim (God) who had delivered them would also preserve them.
We certainly need not be fearful, then, as we enter a new day. 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (God) will never forsake His redeemed children. We can rejoice that our great Creator holds us in His hands. And that’s true for every child of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (God).
Reflect & Pray
The Elohim (God) who made the firmament,
Who made the deepest sea,
The Elohim (God) who put the stars in place
Is the Elohim (God) who cares for me.
The Elohim (God) who holds the universe is the Elohim (God) who is holding you.
