And Aḇram journeyed from Ḥaran, and he took Sarai, his wife, and Lot his brother Haran’s son, to the land of Kena’an. And he came to the land, and proceeded to Sheḵem, and dwelt near a great terebinth.
And he looked, and see, the land was very pleasant from the entering of Ḥamath to the great terebinth.
And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 said to him, “To you and to your seed I shall give this land.”
And he built an altar there, and he offered a burnt offering on it to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, who had appeared to him.
And he moved from there to the mountain: Bĕyth Ĕl on the west and Ai on the east, and pitched his tent there.
And he looked, and see, the land was very wide and good, and all grew upon it: vines and fig trees and pomegranates, oaks and mulberries, and terebinths and olive trees, and cedars and cypresses and date palms, and all trees of the field, and there was water on the mountains.
And he baraḵ 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 who had led him out of Ur-Kasdim, and had brought him to this land.
And it came to be in the first year, in the seventh week, on the new moon of the first month, that he built an altar on this mountain, and called on the Name of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, “You, the everlasting Elohim, are my Elohim.”
And he offered on the altar a burnt offering to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 that He should be with him and not forsake him all the days of his life.
And he moved from there and went towards the Negeḇ, and he came to Ḥeḇron, and Ḥeḇron was built at that time, and he dwelt there two years. And he went to the land of the Negeḇ, to Be’aloth, and there was a scarcity of food in the land.
And Aḇram went into Mitsrayim in the third year of the week, and he dwelt in Mitsrayim five years before his wife was taken away from him.
Now Tanais in Mitsrayim was at that time built – seven years after Ḥeḇron.
And it came to be when Pharaoh seized Sarai, the wife of Aḇram, that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Aḇram’s wife.
And Aḇram was very rich by reason of possessions in sheep, and cattle, and donkeys, and horses, and camels, and male and female servants, and in silver and gold exceedingly. And Lot also, his brother’s son, was wealthy.
And Pharaoh gave back Sarai, the wife of Aḇram, and he sent him out of the land of Mitsrayim, and he journeyed to the place where he had pitched his tent at the beginning, to the place of the altar, with Ai on the east, and Bĕyth Ĕl on the west, and he baraḵ 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 his Elohim who had brought him back in peace.
And it came to be in the forty-first Yoḇĕl, in the third year of the first week, that he returned to this place and offered a burnt offering there, and called on the Name of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, and said, “You, the Most High Ĕl, are my Elohim forever and ever.”
And in the fourth year of this week Lot parted from him, and Lot dwelt in Seḏom. And the men of Seḏom were exceedingly wicked.
And it grieved him in his heart that his brother’s son had parted from him; for he had no children.
In that year when Lot was taken captive, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 said to Aḇram, after Lot had parted from him, in the fourth year of this week, “Lift up your eyes from the place where you are dwelling, northward and southward, and westward and eastward.
“For all the land which you see, I shall give to you and to your seed forever, and I shall make your seed as the sand of the sea: though a man may number the dust of the earth, yet your seed shall not be numbered.
“Arise, walk in the length of it and the breadth of it, and see it all; for to your seed I shall give it.” And Aḇram went to Ḥeḇron, and dwelt there.
And in this year Keḏorla’omer, sovereign of Ĕylam, and Amraphel, sovereign of Shin’ar, and Aryoḵ, sovereign of Ellasar and Tiḏ’al, sovereign of Goyim, came and slew the sovereign of Amorah, and the sovereign of Seḏom fled, and many fell through wounds in the valley of Siddim, by the Salt Sea.
And they took Seḏom and Aḏam and Tseḇoyim captive, and they also took Lot captive, the son of Aḇram’s brother, and all his possessions, and they went to Dan.
And one who had escaped came and told Aḇram that his brother’s son had been taken captive, and he armed his household servants.
. . . . .For Aḇram, and for his seed, a tenth of the first-fruits to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 ordained it as a Law forever that they should give it to the kohenim who served before Him, that they should possess it forever.
And to this Law there is no limit of days; for He has ordained it for the generations forever that they should give to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 the tenth of all, of the seed and of the wine and of the oil and of the cattle and of the sheep.
And He gave it to His kohenim to eat and to drink with joy before Him.
And the sovereign of Seḏom came to him and bowed himself before him, and said, “Our master Aḇram, give to us the beings which you have rescued, but let the booty be yours.”
But Aḇram said to him, “I lift up my hands to the Most High Ĕl, that from a thread to a sandal strap I shall not take any that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Aḇram rich.’ Except only what the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me – Anĕr, Eshkol, and Mamrĕ, these shall take their portion.”
