AḆRAHAM 146

When all was prepared, I picked up the knife, kissed my son Yitsḥaq, and prepared to offer him as a sacrifice unto 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 my Elohim.

But the voice of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 came unto me saying, Aḇraham, slay not thy son, for I have tested you in this manner that I might know that your hearts are perfect before Me.

Now I know that ye fear 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Elohim in that thou hast not withheld thine heir from My altar and he hath willingly lain thereon to be a sacrifice of a burnt offering unto 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄.

Therefore, lift up thine eyes and behold the ram that was chosen from the beginning to stand in the place of thy son Yitsḥaq as a burnt offering before Me.

And I looked up and saw a ram caught by his horns in a thicket.

For as the ram had advanced to the sacrifice, Satan had caught him in the thicket that he might not be offered in Yitsḥaq’s stead.

But I went and freed him from the thicket and releasing my son Yitsḥaq, I placed the ram upon the altar and offered him in Yitsḥaq’s place, that his blood might be considered as the blood of Yitsḥaq before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄.

And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 accepted the sacrifice of the ram as if it had been Yitsḥaq and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 appeared unto us and baraḵ me and my seed on that day.

And we rejoiced in 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄.
