And when those who were in the tents heard, they were astonished at what was done,
and fear and trembling fell upon them, so no man was bold enough to stand in the sight of his neighbour, but rushing out all together, they fled into every way of the plain and the hill country.
Those who had camped in the mountains around Bĕyth Yulia also fled away; then all the children of Yisra’ĕl that were armed among them, rushed out upon them.
Then Uzziyah sent to Bĕyth Hornasthayim and to Bĕḇai and Ḥoḇah and Ḵola and to all the coasts of Yisra’ĕl, to tell what had taken place, and that all should rush out upon their enemies to destroy them.
Now when the children of Yisra’ĕl heard it, they all fell upon them as one man and slew them unto Ḥoḇah; likewise those who also came from Yerushalayim and from all the hill country – for men had told them what matters were done in the camp of their enemies – and those who were in Gil’aḏ and in Galil pursued them with a great slaughter until they were past Dammeseq and its borders.
And the remainder who dwelt at Bĕyth Yulia fell upon the camp of Ashshur and plundered them and acquired great wealth.
And the children of Yisra’ĕl that returned from the slaughter took that which remained, and the villages and the cities that were in the mountains and in the plain took much spoil; for the amount was very great.
Then Yoyaqim the kohĕn ha’gadol and the elders of the children of Yisra’ĕl who dwelt in Yerushalayim came to see the good that Elohim had showed to Yisra’ĕl, and to see Yahuḏith and to greet her.
And when they came to her, they baraḵ her with one accord and said to her, “You are the exaltation of Yerushalayim, you are the great esteem of Yisra’ĕl, you are the great joy of our nation!
“You have done all these matters by your hand, you have done much good to Yisra’ĕl and Elohim is pleased with it. Baruḵ are you of the Almighty 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 forever!” And all the people said, “Amĕn!”
And the people plundered the camp for thirty days; and they gave Holophernĕs’ tent to Yahuḏith and all his plates and bedding and vessels and all his utensils. And she took it and laid it on her donkey, and made her wagons ready and laid them on it.
Then all the women of Yisra’ĕl ran together to see her, and baraḵ her, and they performed a dance for her. And she took branches in her hand, and also gave to the women that were with her.
And they put a crown of olive leaves upon her and her female servant who was with her, and she went before all the people in the dance, leading all the women. And all the men of Yisra’ĕl followed with their weapons and with crowns, and with songs in their mouths.
